Product Description
Tasting Notes:
This light-bodied, round wine opens with aromas of ripe yellow pear and orchard blossom, complemented by subtle pilsner yeast notes that add a bready richness, while underlined with a limestone minerality. On the palate, the wine is crisp and with medium acidity. The wine's richer texture and bready notes make for a textbook example of what Muscadet sur Lie should be. Ideal pairings include raw oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp, white fish crudo or sashimi, salads, sardines, and light-bodied hard cheeses.
About Chéreau Carré
Located at the confluence of the two rivers within the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation, this family-owned winery has been a trailblazer since the 1960s, dedicated to enhancing the quality of the region's wines. Chéreau Carré is renowned for its exploration of numerous single vineyards, assembling prized old vineyards to produce their esteemed Crus Communaux wines. The winery, led by the father-daughter duo of Bernard Chéreau, the second generation, and Louise Chéreau, the third, boasts a rich heritage dating back to the 11th century. Founder Bernard Chéreau senior pioneered the aging of Muscadet wines on lees, a method integral to the appellation since 1977. Emphasizing bottle-aged Muscadet for cellar aging, they were among the first in the region to champion this approach, demonstrating their commitment to quality and innovation.
