Tasting Notes:
The 2000 Dow's Port is a prime example of a ripe vintage. Entering its peak drinking window, it offers incredible concentration and depth, driven by dark fruits and a slight raisinated quality, and erring to the drier end of the port sweetness spectrum. . Opaque in the glass, it reveals dense aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice, and a touch of prune, all underscored by subtle spices like chocolate and tobacco. Pairing options for a wine like this would include Stilton cheese (the classic) or other blues, chocolate, or a nice medium to full-bodied cigar.
Like all well-aged vintage port, a decant is recommended to remove the abundant sediment.
