Tasting Notes:
Erring towards the richer side of Grüner while staying fully dry, this medium-bodied wine presents a delightful combination of ripe green apple and lime on the nose, leading to a round yet prickly texture on the palate. The wine's flavour profile is further enhanced by notes of white pepper and asparagus, providing an intriguing complexity. With medium-plus acidity, it offers a food-friendly profile. Ideal pairings include a variety of vegetables like asparagus, Brussels sprouts, and bell peppers, as well as dishes featuring chicken, veal, sausages, and fatty fish or dishes with slight spice. The wine also complements soft fresh cheeses like ricotta and paneer.
About Kracher
Kracher Winery, located in the Burgenland region of Austria, is most renowned for its production of dessert wines, particularly Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese. The winery's unique terroir, with vineyards stretching from Illmitz to Lake Neusiedl, provides ideal conditions for the development of botrytis cinerea (noble rot), which is essential for their signature sweet wines. Founded by Alois Kracher and later managed by his son Luis Kracher until Alois's untimely death in 2007, the estate is now run by Gerhard Kracher. The winery produces a range of wines including Auslese, Eiswein, and dry whites and reds, but it is their Trockenbeerenauslese wines, categorized under the labels "Zwischen den Seen" and "Nouvelle Vague," that have garnered international acclaim.
